Verse 1
Sam Silver
Was only ten years old
When his father said to him
“Son, when you get older
You will mine for silver like all Silver men before”
But to little Sam, the mines could not yield ore
Verse 2
Sam was a pilot
Born although not raised
He’d stare at the blue sky
To watch the planes fly by
And his heart would tingle and he didn’t quite know why
But little Sam knew he had to fly
Chorus
Fly
Verse 3
Sam Silver
Was twenty-one years old
When he packed up a suitcase
And flew away from home
On the Silver Lightning he’d built up through the years
It had silver lining and silver in its gears
Verse 4
His father looked on
Tears behind his eyes
He saw Sam’s Lightning
Fade beyond the sky
And in that moment as he waved his son goodbye
Sam’s father wished that he could fly
Chorus
Fly
Bridge
Sam was right above the clouds
He was miles above the ground
And he would never turn around
Verse 5
Sam Silver
Works from nine to five
He flies on the weekends
He’s happy with his life
‘Cause if you’re always flying the clouds become the ground
If you’re always flying the clouds become the ground
Verse 6
Sam’s only son
Is only ten years old
His first love is tennis
And Sam’s not good at sports
But today they’re playing on a grass court far away
A little boy and his father fly away
